    Ms. Margaret MacPherson

Margaret MacPherson attained a Bachelor degree and a Master degree in Arts from the University of Manitoba, Canada. During her undergraduate and postgraduate studies, Margaret showed a strong passion for reading literature, and hence she majored in English Literature at both Bachelor and Master degree levels.

In appreciation of Margaret's contribution to academic writing, she was appointed to a three year position as one of the judges for the Leacock Literary Award Winner selecting panel, which gave out an annual award for the best humorous work published in Canada within an identified time period. An unplanned move to Ottawa, Canada, saw Margaret changing her career after she decided not to complete her PhD degree in English at the University of Ottawa. Instead, she decided to pursue another career as a pianist and music teacher. Starting from 2005 to 2010, and again in 2015 Margaret was employed as a member of the Piano Faculty at the Bermuda School of Music.

While at Bermuda School of Music, in addition to teaching piano and music theory, Margaret also started publishing several articles on the teaching of music and the psychology of performance. She received invitations to present her research publications at conferences of music teachers in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 2013, and in Ottawa, in 2014.

To date has been working on voluntary basis for a couple of programs on the Cayman Islands whose mandate is to improve the level of literacy among students at both junior and college levels.
