Sustainable Architecture achieved by experienced projects management. Our new firm is comprised of individuals with unique and varied backgrounds and by uniting their diverse and complementary experiences we are able to provide a hands-on approach to architectural and customer service that exceed expectations. Our focused concentration on projects is necessary to successfully navigate the challenges that arise when transforming ideas into reality. We are currently the selected Project Architect for McAlpine on the Government Office Administration Building (GOAP) which will be LEED certified (Leadership in energy and environmental design).
The practice was founded by Cindy O’Hara in 2007; formerly Managing Director of OBM International for 8 years who collaborated daily with William (Bill) Bissell. After Bill passed away she had the confidence, experience and inspiration to open an Architectural practice
A Sustainable Architecture, Project Management and Interior Design practice, Design (Cayman) Ltd has already established itself as one of the Grand Caymans foremost Architectural firms. We are currently engaged in a broad range of projects, from residential, office developments, utilitarian and sustainable solutions.
Currently Cindy is the lead consultant on the Government Office administration building (GOAP) a 180,000 sq ft facility, which will be LEED certified (energy efficiency certification).
Our design team has an exceptional range of talent and experience and has acquired considerable professional experience designing, a range of buildings in United Kingdom, Bermuda, Turks and Caicos Islands and Grand Cayman.
We combine this skill and technical maturity with a positive attitude and a hands-on approach, and are constantly looking to related disciplines and green technologies which will help us develop our design solutions to the optimum standard. These values create a stimulating and energetic working atmosphere in which our team can focus on producing exciting, buildings that will enhance the lives of all who use them.

Utilizing a sustainable design encourages decisions at each phase of the design process that successfully contribute to the reduction of the impact on the environment and the health of the occupants, without compromising the bottom line of the projects. Even clients who could care less about the environment understand the financial benefits to a sustainable project. This holistic positively impacts all phases of a building's life-cycle, including planning, design, construction and operaton.
Design (Cayman) Limited is committed to incorporating principles of sustainable design and energy efficiency into all of its projects. The result is an optimal balance of cost, practicality and well being while meeting the function of the intended structure. It is our intent that sustainable design will be integrated as seamlessly as possible into the design and construction process utilizing a sustainable construction management plan can be adapted to the requirements of each project. This is a design culture that can be utilized as a whole or in parts, utilizing one or two prinicpals that best suit the individual project.
Our Firm is a member of the US green Build Council (USGBC) and our staff are dedicated to continuing education in Leadership in Environmental and Energy D (LEED) certification, while developing an outreach program into the local education system to promote a Sustainable Future in Caymanian Youth.
