Based on your symptoms, Dr. Glatz has recommended you undertake a sleep study to check whether you suffer with Obstructive sleep Apnea (O.S.A).
You will be given an appointment to come into the office so we demonstrate how to set the machine up. Then you will take the machine home to sleep with. The machine MUST be returned the following morning.
The study consists of a ‘diagnostic night’ when you wear the small battery powered machine around your neck. A strap will go around your chest, nasal prongs and a clip on your finger will also be worn.
Once the data has been downloaded you will be informed by Dr. Glatz if a further study needs to be conducted.
If the first night showed significant O.S.A then you will be given another appointment for a ‘therapy night.’ This uses the same sleep machine as the first night along with a CPAP machine.
The CPAP machine involves a small mask over the nose that blows a little positive pressure into the airway to keep it open. The nurse will again demonstrate the setup of the machine.
The sleep study machine must be returned to Dr. Glatz office the morning after the test to allow enough time to download the data.
Once all the results have been reported, you will be given an appointment to discuss the results with Dr. Glatz, who will then recommend future treatment options, which may include long term CPAP usage if your O.S.A was significant.
If you have insurance Dr. Glatz will write to the insurance company requesting authorization to do the test. Once approved; you will be given an appointment to come in to be set up for the test.
Most insurance companies will pay a large percentage of the cost AFTER you have met your deductible.
On average patients will pay around CI$350 for the 2 nights study (more if you need to meet your deductible).
If you do not have insurance the cost of the 2 night study is CI$1577.00.
Payment plan options are available upon request.
